Non-medical home care · Valparaiso, Indiana
We provide affordable, reliable care options so Seniors can live safely and comfortably at home.
Proudly serving Seniors & families
01 We can help
Senior citizens thrive by staying involved in their own lives, and one of the best ways to ensure that is by enabling them to live in their homes for as long as is safely possible. But Seniors and their families shouldn’t have to handle the difficult challenges they face alone.
Assisting Seniors can help with illness or injury recovery, chronic medical conditions, changing life circumstances, and the building stresses of aging — brightening daily life through healthy cognitive, physical, and social interaction that lets Seniors hold on to their familiar routines and unique lifestyle.
02 How we help
Most families start with a few hours a week. Care grows, shifts, or scales back as life does.
We provide non-medical companionship, personal care, and household help in the home. We don’t provide skilled nursing, therapy, or medical treatment, but we work alongside home-health teams and are happy to help coordinate other resources when a need is outside our scope.
03 Our approach
Every family’s situation is unique and often in constant motion. We can help Seniors who need only minimal services as well as those with higher-level chronic conditions such as Alzheimer’s or dementia.
When we begin designing a care plan together, we’ll discuss your needs and expectations, then fuse your ideas with our experience into a plan everyone involved approves — one that grows and changes with your wishes, so the dignity, privacy, and comfort of all are preserved.
04 Who you’ll talk to
There is no call center and no intake queue. When you reach out to Assisting Seniors, you reach Kelly Staubus — the owner — and she stays involved from the first conversation onward.
Kelly has been with Assisting Seniors for roughly fourteen years. She began as a caregiver, working with client after client in their own homes, moved into management, and then partnered with the previous owners to take over the company. She handles the intake meetings, the scheduling, and the matching of caregivers to clients herself, and she makes a point of being reachable outside of business hours — because that is when families usually need to talk.
Her own experience caring for loved ones is what brought her to this work in the first place.

06 Questions families ask
Non-medical home care provides companionship, personal care assistance, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and transportation — support that helps Seniors live safely and comfortably at home without clinical or medical services.
Home health involves skilled nursing, therapy, or medically supervised treatment prescribed by a physician. Assisting Seniors provides non-medical care only — we do not provide injections, wound care, skilled nursing, or medication administration. We do work alongside home-health teams and can help coordinate other resources when a need falls outside our scope.
As much or as little as the situation calls for. Some families need a few hours a week of companionship and errands; others need daily personal care, or around-the-clock support during a final stage of life. Care plans are built to grow and change with your wishes.
Yes. Respite care is one of the most common reasons families call. Whether it is a standing afternoon each week or a few days while you travel, we can stay with your loved one so you can take care of your own life and health.
Yes. When a facility is short-staffed or a family wants dedicated one-to-one attention, we provide supplemental care alongside facility staff.
Yes. Hospice covers the medical side of end-of-life care; we cover the hours in between — companionship, personal care, meals, and the household running — so a family can keep their loved one at home. We work alongside hospice teams, including Dunes Hospice, and coordinate rather than duplicate what they provide.
Some of our clients have long-term care policies, and Kelly will assist with the insurance processing and paperwork. Bring your policy to the introductory call and she will walk through it with you.
Yes. We work with discharge planners, social workers, and hospital case managers to coordinate home care support when a Senior is transitioning from a hospital or rehabilitation facility back home.
Call Kelly directly at (219) 265-1581 or email assistingseniorsnwi@gmail.com. The first conversation is a complimentary introductory call — no cost, no commitment.
